Anaesthesiology

Pre-operative assessment service

• Offer preoperative counselling and assessment for patients who need anesthesia for their procedure. We will help determine the most optimal anesthesia plan for our patients.
• We work with other specialties to manage and optimize any conditions that will affect the perioperative journey with the most common conditions including diabetes mellitus, sleep apnea and cardiac conditions, so that our patients can have the best possible state to undergo procedures.
• Patient education will be offered to help our patients understand their anesthesia management plan.

General and regional anesthesia

• We are equipped with full range of equipment and expertise to support general anesthesia and regional anesthesia for their procedures. Our anesthetists will be present all the time to accompany our patients during the anesthesia course.

Monitored anesthesia care

• We also support sedation and monitored anesthesia during some relatively less invasive procedures yet require anxiety relief and analgesia. Some common procedures include endoscopy, radiology investigations and other minor surgeries. The service could be provided inside or outside operating theatre with fully functioned monitoring devices. Our anesthetists will be present all the time to accompany our patients during the anesthesia course.

Postoperative follow up and pain management after operation 

• We will follow up on patients who require fluid, ventilation and pain management after operation. We work hand in hand with our surgeons to ensure our patient can have the best course of recovery after operation.

Education and teaching

• We also arrange regular teaching and support training session to doctors, nurses and health care assistants in CUHKMC.
