Special Offer for Public Hospital Patients - Percutaneous Coronary Intervention (PCI) Scheme
The Percutaneous Coronary Intervention (PCI) Scheme launched by the Cardiology Centre of CUHK Medical Centre (CUHKMC), aims to serve as an alternative option for patients who are currently on the waiting list for PCI at a hospital under Hospital Authority (HA) and wish to expedite their course of receiving the procedure.
Eligibility：
- Permanent residents of Hong Kong
- Patients who hold a PCI procedure notice issued by HA hospitals*
OR
Patients, who have been assessed by HA physicians, and are recommended to undergo PCI or other related coronary intervention e.g. turned down coronary artery bypass graft (CABG)*
*To be eligible to participate in the PCI scheme, applicants are required to undergo assessment to be conducted by specialists in cardiology of CUHKMC, where the specialist will assess patient’s health conditions to determine if one is suitable to undergo PCI.

The Scheme includes:
- Coronary arteries stenting (1 unit)#
- Coronary arteries balloon (1 unit)#
- 24-hour Cardiac Monitoring
- Intravascular Ultrasound or Intravascular Optical Fiber Imaging
- Charges for hospital stay - 2 Days (4-bed room only and excluding meal)
- Doctor’s fee includes the fees for cardiologist and ward round
- Operating theatre charges (including extra operation theatre time that is clinically indicated and due to complexity of the intended procedure)
- Nursing procedure charges
- Medication Aspirin and Plavix up to 30 days
- Standard equipment and instrument charges
- Standard consumable, material, and standard implant charges
#In the event where extra stenting or other surgical instruments and equipment are deployed, additional charges will be applied at a predetermined rate fixed by CUHKMC.
The Scheme excludes：
- Companion bed / meals
- Changing bed within the same grade of accommodation
- Cost related to post-operation complications (including intensive care and re-operation charges)
- Additional operation charges, medication, diagnostic procedures, professional fees and sundries charges unrelated to the procedure
- Any charges or services before actualisation of scheme and after patient discharge
- Any treatment or service charges resulting from symptoms or afflictions unrelated to the procedure
- Extra stenting or other consumable or surgical instruments that is clinically indicated and due to complexity of the intended procedure
Notes:
- To participate in this PCI scheme, an applicant must fulfil all eligibility criteria of this scheme.
- The scheme does not extend to patients with the following conditions:
- Cardiogenic shock or those who are clinically unstable
- Cases supported by Impella or Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump (IABP)
- Patients experiencing Chronic Total Occlusion (CTO)
- Complex bifurcation that necessitates a 2-stent procedure
- For the avoidance of doubt, the PCI scheme is distinct from CUHKMC medical packages. The terms and conditions of CUHKMC medical packages do not apply to this scheme.
- The operation is by appointment only and needs to be attended and endorsed by specialists in cardiology of CUHKＭC.
- The operation is to be carried out at the date and time set out by the Centre.
- The scheme cannot be used in conjunction with other discounts or offers.
- The scheme is not transferrable and cannot be exchanged for cash or other products or services, and any fees paid for the services under the offer are not refundable and cannot be exchanged for other products or services.
- CUHK Medical Centre Limited reserves the right to amend any of the above terms and conditions without prior notice.
- In case of any dispute, CUHK Medical Centre Limited's decision is final.
